Introducing Thorben

Hello, my name is Loene , Welcome to my blog at Melbourne Bernese, my prefix name is Thorben and here you will get to know more about me, my girls and my breeding philosophy.

I live in the Dandenong Ranges on a beautiful acre block with my family and included in our family are some beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog girls Coco, Mickey & Lily.
I first became introduced to the Bernese Mountain dog back in 2010, at the time I really wanted a Yorkshire terrier and my partner said what about this breed a Bernese Mountain Dog?, from there I was hooked and we set out to find our beautiful puppy, so in 2010 we had the pleasure of meeting our boy Lincoln. Lincoln was a stunning dog in our eyes and set the tone for what a joy and pleasure it was to have the Bernese as family, so of course I couldn’t stop at one. Now after many years I have my own prefix as Thorben translating to “ Thor’s Worrier Bear “ as the breed are so large and beautiful to look at but hold a strong stand with gentle eyes just like a bear. Hence why I guess so many get called Bear!

All our Bernese are brought up in our home as well as our puppies, surrounded by kids, adults and lots of fresh air and nature. Our property is now the perfect setting for having a Bernese Mountain Dog litter now and then as we are surrounded by everything our puppies and dogs need to thrive with, trail walks, waterfalls, children and the amount of trees for shade and comfort makes our premise a Bernese Paradise. As a new Breeder but seasoned owner I am striving to encourage the breeds natural temperament of being Affectionate, Loyal, intelligent and  happy go lucky. My intention with Thorben is to create well adjusted Bernese Mountain Dog puppies through their experience and time with me and my family on our spacious and lushes property, I am committed to exceeding where possible the breeds standards of health, happiness and longevity. We don’t breed unless all measures have taken place to ensure the female and male has sound hips and elbows and is of a beautiful nature with all the right ingredients true to the breed.
